Cezanne & American Modernism at the Phoenix Art Museum (Wednesday, September 8th, 2010 10:00 AM)
Paul Cezanne (1839-1906) is a French artist who is celebrated worldwide for his Post-Impressionist masterpieces.
His work bridged the late 19th century Impressionism to the early 20th century and profoundly affected the development of modern art. He is known for his advent of Cubism - multiple views of the same subject.
Like many great artists, his talent was not recognized until after his death in 1906. In 1907 Paris hosted a large scale exhibit of his paintings in a museum-like retrospective.
This is the first exhibition to examine Cezannes influence upon the development of American modernism in this country and abroad.
Cezanne and American Modernism includes an intimate display of a dozen key paintings and works on paper by Cezanne.
Admission is FREE on Wednesdays thanks to SRP(Donations are welcomed and appreciated!)
