New Name but this Scottsdale Golf Resort Still Rocks!

This hotel is a property that is near and dear to me as I spent five great years working there as a Sales Manager in the mid to late 90's. Man, did we have some fun! They understand the golfer more than any other hotel in Scottsdale and offer accommodations specifically suited to them. A very unique property that was once an apartment complex built in the mid 80's that today hardly resembles the original property at all. So much has been done to improve and expand the resort over the years to where it stands today as one of Scottsdale's most unique and homey accommodations.

Xona Resort Suites Competes with any Resort Hotel in Scottsdale

Originally owned and operated by the Zuckerman family, ownership has recently passed on to Marcus Hotels and Resorts whose portfolio of owned and managed properties include such well-known brands as Hilton, Westin and Sheraton. Currently they are in the midst of a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion that when complete will bring Resort Suites to a completely new level in resort accommodations and amenities and will compete with any resort hotel in Scottsdale.

To my knowledge, Resort Suites of Scottsdale was one of the first hotels in Scottsdale to recognize that golf sells room nights. With the number of championship courses being built combined with Scottsdale's mild winters they were able to attract golfers from all over the world by packaging their accommodations with golf at area courses. They negotiated special rates for their guests and were able to provide them with preferred tee times. It was a one-stop-shop for the golf enthusiast who wanted to come to Scottsdale to play golf and be able to stay in a place that offered the amenities that made them feel at home – on vacation! With one, two and four bedroom, condominium-style suites they were able to offer the golfer something that no one else in Scottsdale could, the ability to share accommodations with their golf buddies, and thus keep the cost per night down. With the two and four bedroom suites featuring double beds in each bedroom a foursome could stay together in one suite and two foursomes could stay together in a four bedroom suite with room to spare. Each suite has it's own common area for relaxing and TV watching, a full size, fully equipped kitchen, dining area and each bedroom has it's own bath. Not much has changed regarding the philosophy of the hotel with respect to catering to the golfer but the property itself has changed tremendously -it's gotten way better than when I worked there!

After a round of golf on one of Scottsdale's challenging courses you can lounge by one of the four sparkling pools or relax those golf muscles in one of the three whirlpool spas. Later, get a workout in the fitness center, enjoy the surrounding lush resort gardens, order dinner brought to your suite or enjoy great Southwestern cuisine at Gordon’s restaurant.
