Rumbi Island Grill

November 7, 2007

Rumbi Island GrillI just had my first experience with Rumbi Island Grill located at the The Scottsdale Promenade in North Scottsdale and it was everything the locals say it is. Casual island atmosphere with plenty of palm trees and Hawaiian lingo. E Komo Mai means welcome to Rumbi Island Grill. I had the Luau Pork Sandwich with slow roasted Kalua Pork, Mayo, Asian (sweet) Slaw on a Fresh Baked Bun. I couldn't find the word in my Hawaiian dictionary but "Kahuka" BBQ Sauce was served on the side.

Inside Rumbi Island Grill From the tender and succulent pork to the sweet and tangy BBQ sauce I could find no fault in service, presentation or taste. Place your order at the front and it is delivered to your table in minutes. Servers are friendly, courteous and dressed in island style. Get there early because the lunch crowd is getting bigger every day. It was a great sandwich and I liked the combination of sweet Asian coleslaw with pulled pork. As a side order I requested all sweet potato fries (standard is a mix of regular French and Sweet Potato) and they were nothing short of fantastic, hot, crinkle cut and plenty of them. Next time I plan to try the Kahuna Burger, or maybe the Surf Club Sandwich, or no, maybe the Voodoo Chicken Salad or the Calypso Spinach Salad, or, well, you get the idea.

Experience Island Fresh cooking in a casual, tropical atmosphere.
