Why Fall Is My Favorite Time To Visit Scottsdale
November 7, 2007Scottsdale Season # 4 (And this one is my favorite). Starting about September 16th until about January 9th of the following year is our Fall Season. The golf courses have to overseed their courses with winter rye so they are nice and green when the "snowbirds" and tourists come back but most are finished and back in playable condition by late October/early November. Golf course rates can be as much as 40% off in September and up to 30% off November and December. Hotels and resorts are recovering from the summer doldrums and gearing up for high season but rates are still 30% lower. The weather is still hot during the day in September but the nights are cooling down and by October 15th or so the daytime temperatures have fallen as well. Ideally, the time to be here in the fall is from October 31st all the way through Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year. It can get cold here at night in December, I've seen it as low as freezing, but the days are sunny and warm. Scottsdale does not have the dramatic fall foliage seen in the Mid-West and Northeast, our changes are more subtle, but the Sonoran desert is beautiful any time of year. My advice for this season is to travel in the months of November and December, it's a bargain for golf and lodging and the weather is outstanding!
