Why Scottsdale Is A Great Place to Live

October 29, 2007

Scottsdale is a great place to live, there is no doubt about that. Take it from someone who looked around a lot before settling down here. AND it's a very nice place for a golf vacation. There is something for everyone here. The climate is the best I have ever experienced - even with the hot summers - (it's still nothing like the humidity I experienced in Missouri). We are seasonal here with the best weather coming in our winter months (January through April), but many don't realize that our Fall and Spring nights are blissfully cool and our days spectacular. High Season, (January through April) is the time everyone wants to be here. And when I say everyone, I mean from all over the planet. Hence the spectacular growth of Scottsdale.

The golf courses here are some of the most difficult and challenging that you will find ranging in style from Desert/Target to Scottish Links, Parklands and Traditional layouts. When this mid-westerner first set eyes on desert golf - it came as quite a shock. target golf takes some getting used to and I liken it to playing golf on the Moon. Here in the desert our courses are limited to a specific number of turf acres due to water restrictions. That's why we have incorporated washes, gulley's, ravines and all that beautiful desert landscape into each design, making each course unique and challenging.

The cities of Scottsdale and Phoenix swell to bursting with the addition of about 3.5 million winter visitors during January to April and one big party follows another; the P. F. Chang Rock n Roll Marathon in January, the PGA Tours' FBR Open, the first week in February, the world-famous Barrett Jackson Classic Car Auction, then the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show in March. And don't forget Spring Training baseball with the San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale Stadium during the whole month of March. These events keep Scottsdale booked solid and sometimes it becomes difficult if not impossible to find a nice room (where you want to stay) or a round of golf (at the course or time that you want to play).
